Overview
Growing up as an aspiring young golfer, I always looked forward to watching the Open Championship. Unfortunately living in Queensland I could not go out and enjoy similar conditions for myself. Then one day my Father took me to Hope Island. Wow! It was like I was playing in the group behind Seve. The pot bunkers, the sloping greens and the undulating fairways. Then I got to the 17th and 18th holes. Not just the perfect picture, but what a finish to a great day. My dad may have beaten me this day, but at least I had the bragging rights – I have finally played on a true Links Course.
Who Designed Links Hope Island
Designed by five times British Open Champion, Peter Thomson, and partner, Mike Wolveridge, it is rated by Australian golfing legend, Peter Senior, as “one of the best championship links courses you’ll play”.
History of Links Hope Island
Since opening in March 1993, the golf course at Hope Island has consistently ranked in Australia’s top ten resort courses. Host to the 1997 Johnnie Walker Classic and Qantas Legends Golf Classic, the course is both nationally and internationally renowned.
